SO, we have three dogs. And earlier this month all three were broken. Ginger, the oldest looked like she had a stroke. She was walking into things, and unable to stand up. We got her to the vet, and he put her on a steroid, which helped. Then she developed a jaw chatter that was almost constant and seemed to cause her a great deal of stress. So we took her to a specialist and she found that Ginger had a bladder infection, and that the pain could have caused the chattering. We also reduced the amount of steroid, and she is better. It cost about 1300 dollars to find all of that out. And we still don't have a real answer as to why her back legs don't work that well, is it a slow growing tumor on her brain? We are taking her to a holistic vet, who does acupuncture on Saturday. We'll see what he has to say.
In the mean time, Hazel, second in age needs to have a tumor removed from her eye lid. She was scheduled to have surgery twice, and both times we've had to cancel. Second time, this week actually, she got good and sick on some poop. Yes, I said poop. She's the poop eater. disgusting. But that cost us a few hundred dollars as well, and we still have the surgery to pay for. Which will be another thousand dollars.
Then there is Big Momma... She was so excited to see us bring Ginger home from a day at the vet that she ran around like a maniac, and sprained her front leg! However, I felt like I got off cheap on that one. Only 89 dollars! Woo Hoo! Thanks Big Momma for being a bargain. Oh, wait, she has her annual check up at the end of the month. That's another 300.
I'm thinking that the vet is vacationing in Mexico over Christmas...
